News: WA-DOT closes portion of I-5 in Lakewood due to collision 

LAKEWOOD, WA – The Washington Department of Transportation had to close a portion of Interstate 5 for a few hours due to a Wednesday morning collision.

The crash happened around 5:15 a.m., Kiro7 said. The specifics leading up to the crash are unclear. However, based on a traffic camera photo, the crash involved at least one white car, which was completely totaled.

The vehicle accident was blocking one northbound lane and three left southbound lanes. During the lane closures, traffic delays were seen on I-5 South for five miles heading towards New York Avenue.

By 6:30 a.m., transportation crews reopened two right lanes on I-5 South and one left lane on I-5 North.

All lanes reopened by 9 a.m.
