TUKWILA, WA – The Washington State Patrol is actively working to track down a hit-and-run suspect in connection with a fatal crash that happened on State Route 599 on Friday, Oct. 24.
According to an update from KOMO News, the suspect, who was believed to be driving an older Lexus model, had run over a 24-year-old man in the middle of the road.
The driver did not render aid to the victim and took off. The 24-year-old man died at the scene.
Prior to the 24-year-old man getting struck, he was involved in another crash.
A person driving a 2002 Honda Civic lost control of their vehicle and crashed into the left shoulder. The 24-year-old man, who was a front-seat passenger, and a 24-year-old woman, who was a back-seat passenger, were both ejected from the vehicle.
The 24-year-old man landed in the middle of the road, where he was struck by the hit-and-run vehicle.
The 24-year-old woman came to rest on the interstate shoulder. EMS crews took her and the Honda Civic driver to Harborview Medical Center.
New information reveals that the suspect tried to swerve to avoid hitting the victim, but inevitably collided with him. The suspect’s vehicle should have damage on the left side of its front bumper, tire, and wheel well.
