News: UPDATE: Vehicle of interest identified in fatal Maple Valley hit-and-run

MAPLE VALLEY, WA — A gray 2001-2006 Toyota Camry was identified Friday by investigators as the car responsible for a July hit-and-run crash that killed a male jogger in Maple Valley, according to the King County Sheriff’s Office.

The body of the 53-year-old Maple Valley man had been found early morning on July 18th near 244th Avenue Southeast. He was believed to have died around 5:00 a.m.

Detectives in the Major Accident Response and Reconstruction (MARR) unit pieced together headlight fragments, utilized surveillance and other evidence to determine they are searching for a gray Toyota Camry made between 2001 and 2006, or a similar model year, with damage to a headlight or the hood area.

Authorities also have reason to believe the suspect vehicle was accompanying another vehicle in the area of the 22700 block of Southeast 216th Way at approximately 6:15 p.m.
