BREMERTON, WA – The jogger who was seriously injured in a previously reported pedestrian collision in Bremerton on Saturday has been released from the hospital.
According to Kitsap Sun, the victim is a 16-year-old girl. She was walking southbound with another pedestrian and a bicyclist in the shoulder of Northlake Way NW near the Kitsap Way intersection, when she was struck by a southbound vehicle.
WSP’s preliminary crash report stated the driver, an 85-year-old woman from Bremerton, had drifted out of the lane before striking the girl. The vehicle then careened off the roadway and down a rock embankment into a parking lot.
Officers with the Bremerton Police Department responded to the scene before handing the investigation over to the Washington State Patrol.
The victim was airlifted with serious injuries to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, but has since been released. The second jogger was hit by debris and suffered minor injuries. The bicyclist was not harmed.
Troopers shut down the roadway for about an hour while the scene was investigated.
