News: Troopers shut down I-90 West near North Bend after 15 collisions

NORTH BEND, WA – Troopers with the Washington State Patrol were forced to shut down the westbound lanes of Interstate 90 near North Bend after responding to 15 separate crashes on Saturday.

According to KOMO News, the collisions began around 3 p.m., with icy roadway conditions playing a role. Three of the accidents were rollovers, including one that resulted in a mother and infant child being transported to Overlake Hospital in Bellevue.

Trooper Rick Johnson said authorities do not consider the incident to be a pile-up and are investigating each accident separately. Two of the crashes involved patrol cruisers, one of which was struck twice.

Fortunately, Johnson confirmed that no motorists were seriously injured.
