FIFE, WA – According to KIRO 7, the Washington State Patrol is investigating a deadly three-vehicle collision that occurred on I-5 SB near Wapato Way E on Friday.
A 26-year-old man was heading south on I-5 when he hit a vehicle parked on the shoulder. The 26-year-old man then came back on the road, where a semi-truck t-boned him.
Rescue crews pronounced the 26-year-old man dead at the scene and transported the woman inside the parked car to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The semi-truck driver was uninjured.
Troopers are waiting on a toxicology report from the Pierce County medical examiner to determine if the 26-year-old man was impaired.
