News: Train derails, strikes power station in Seattle’s Industrial District

SEATTLE, WA — Fire crews responded to the scene of a crash Monday night after a train derailed in south Seattle’s Industrial District, according to FOX 13 Seattle.

The accident happened on the tracks near Colorado Avenue South and South Spokane Street. Members of the Seattle Fire Department arrived on the scene at about 8:30 p.m.

It was unclear what caused the wreck, but the SFD said the train derailed just enough to collide with a power station, causing a number of power lines to fall down. The train also came to a stop blocking South Spokane Street in both directions, but the scene was cleared and all lanes were reopened shortly after 6:00 a.m.

No one was reported hurt in the incident.

The Seattle Police Department has not indicated the cause of the crash or what kind of train was involved. An investigation remains ongoing.
