News: Tesla loses control, causes multi-car wreck on I-5 northbound in Tacoma

TACOMA, WA — A Tesla going in excess of 100 miles per hour caused multiple crashes early Saturday morning on Interstate 5 northbound in Tacoma, according to Q13 Fox.

Washington State Patrol said the Tesla was speeding on I-5 northbound near East Bay Street at around 3:40 a.m. when its driver lost control of the vehicle, causing it to hit a barrier, a pickup truck, followed by a van.

The Tesla driver was taken to a local hospital with serious injuries. Another driver involved also suffered minor injuries.

Authorities said the causing driving will be facing a reckless driving citation. No drugs or alcohol are currently suspected.

The incident causes I-5 to shut down for several hours until 8:00 a.m.
