News: Teen pedestrian hospitalized after SR-105 collision in Westport

GRAYS HARBOR COUNTY, WA — A 16-year-old girl was seriously injured last Wednesday morning after being struck by a pickup truck on State Route 105 in Westport, according to The Daily World.

Washington State Patrol said the girl had been standing on the northbound shoulder of the highway at around 9:00 a.m. on October 6 when she tried to cross the roadway. Moments later, the teen ran into the side of a southbound Dodge Ram pickup truck.

The victim suffered serious injuries and was transported by airlift to Seattle’s Harborview Medical Center.

WSP said the driver, a 46-year-old Tacoma man, stayed at the scene. Troopers noted the man had been driving on a suspended license but cited the cause of the crash as the “pedestrian’s failure to yield the right-of-way.”

The highway was shut down for nearly two hours during the response.
