PIERECE COUNTY, WA — A 13-year-old boy died late Tuesday afternoon when he was struck by a vehicle while riding a bicycle on State Route 7 in south Parkland, reports FOX13 Seattle.
The fatal incident took place at the intersection with 134th Street South at about 4:00 p.m.
According to the Washington State Patrol, the teen was crossing the road in a marked crosswalk when he was hit by a driver in a Jeep.
The victim died from his injuries at the scene, confirmed the WSP.
Officials said the driver stayed at the site and cooperated with an investigation. Drugs and alcohol are not believed to have been factors in the crash.
All traffic was reduced to a single lane in both directions during the emergency response.
