News: TCSO responds to fatal crash on Yelm Hwy in SE Olympia

THURSTON COUNTY, WA — At least one person was killed Wednesday morning in a two-vehicle wreck on Yelm Highway near southeast Olympia, reports FOX 13 Seattle.

The fatal accident occurred at Johnson Road Southeast at around 7:00 a.m. Deputies with the Thurston County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene shortly after.

Officials have not disclosed the cause of the crash, but at least one person was pronounced deceased.

Footage captured at the scene indicate two passenger cars were involved, with both vehicles coming to rest on either side of the roadway. Significant damage to both vehicles can be observed.

A section of the highway between Johnson Road Southeast and Meridian Road Southeast was blocked off for multiple hours as deputies investigated. Commuters were asked to find alternate routes around the area.

Shortly before 12:30 p.m., the scene had been cleared and all lanes were reopened to traffic.
