WEST SEATTLE, WA – Seattle Police are currently on the hunt for a suspect in relation to a hit-and-run crash that happened in West Seattle on Sunday.
The West Seattle Blog first reported the crash after 3:30 p.m., saying it happened in the area of 15th Avenue Southwest and Southwest Henderson Street.
Based on what we know so far, it seems the suspect, who is said to be a 5 foot 4 Hispanic man, had stolen a Mercedes cargo van with an Indiana license plate (but a VIN traced to Richmond) and crashed into two parked sedans. The cargo van landed on its side, coming to rest on top of one of the cars.
The Hispanic man reportedly fled the scene of the crash on foot. Police found a missing shirt of his, not far from the collision site at 18th Avenue Southwest and Trenton Street.
Seattle fire crews were also called to the scene to perform an extrication. However, once on the scene, officials confirmed no one was pinned or entrapped and an extrication did not need to be performed.
Officials said the impact of the collision resulted in a serious fluid spill, which also warranted a response from local transportation crews.
No injuries were reported.
