MASON CO., WA – An elderly man was killed as the result of a single-vehicle collision in Mason County early Sunday morning.
According to The Olympian, the crash occurred shortly after 2 a.m. along U.S. 101 near Purdy Cutoff Road.
Police say the 77-year-old man lost control of his vehicle for unknown reasons and crashed into a light pole before rolling over and landing upside down in a nearby pond. The unidentified driver was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators believe intoxication may have played a role in the fatal collision.
