News: SFD rescues man injured on cargo ship at West Seattle’s Terminal 5

WEST SEATTLE, WA — A 51-year-old man was seriously injured Monday night in an accident aboard the MSC Monterey cargo ship docked at West Seattle’s Terminal 5, according to West Seattle Blog.

Seattle Fire Department crews responded to the scene in the Industrial District West area shortly before 8:10 p.m.

Details are limited, but the victim was said to have been hit by a falling object and was found trapped between two cargo containers.

Firefighters worked for more than 20 minutes to extract the patient from off the ship. Authorities said he was “alert and oriented,” but suffered from head trauma and was transported by SFD to Harborview Medical Center.

No further information has been disclosed at this time.
