News: Semi crashes into guardrails, blocks lanes on I-5 NB near SeaTac

KING COUNTY, WA — A semi-truck collision early Wednesday caused multiple lanes to close on Interstate 5 near south SeaTac as crews repaired a damaged guardrail, reports King 5.

The accident occurred on the northbound lanes north of State Route 515 shortly before 5:00 a.m.

It was unclear what caused the crash, but authorities said a semi hit the guardrail on the right side of the interstate, damaging about 25 sections of the rail and exposing a large drop off the side of the roadway.

All right northbound lanes in the area were shut down as crews performed emergency repairs. By 7:35 a.m., the closure had created a traffic backup about 6 miles long.

Shortly after 2:30 p.m., all lanes were reopened to traffic.

At this time, authorities have not confirmed any serious injuries in the crash.
