News: Rail lines shut down after train engine fire in Seattle

SEATTLE, WA — All rail lines were shut down Tuesday morning after a train engine caught fire near King Street station in Seattle, according to KOMO News.

Firefighters arrived in the 300 block of South Jackson Street at around 7:00 a.m. Smoke and flames were reported coming from a BNSF train’s engine compartment.

The Seattle Fire Department issued a full response team and closed down all train lines, according to department spokesperson David Cuerpo.

The site of fire was identified in the train engine’s electrical equipment. Crews were able to swiftly contain and extinguish the flames.

No injuries were reported in the incident.

Authorities closed some streets in the surrounding area during the fire response, but have since reopened them.
