SEATTLE, WA – A motor vehicle accident on East Madison Street Tuesday evening caused damage to the roadway and temporary power outages in the area, reports the Capitol Hill Seattle Blog.
The Seattle Police Department said the initial accident occurred around 4 p.m. Tuesday on E Madison Street near the 15th Street intersection. One of the drivers apparently forgot to initiate the parking break of their heavy SUV before he exited the vehicle to exchange information with the other driver. This caused the vehicle to roll away, traveling along E Madison St for two blocks before eventually striking a utility pole near the 13th Street intersection.
Seattle Fire responded to injuries reported in the accident, but they are not believed to be serious.
According to Seattle City Light, the crash caused power outages to about 600 customers in the area. E Madison was temporarily shut down as officials worked to clear the accident and restore power to the area.
Power was restored at around 2 a.m. Wednesday morning.
This is a developing story. We will update this blog if more details become available.
