KENT, WA – Kent Police took a man on an e-bike into custody following a collision outside the Kentbrook Apartments on Monday, Komo News reports.
The incident unfolded around 7:30 p.m. when the E-bike rider crashed into the front of a car on the 9900th block of South 248th Street. The E-bike rider, a 39-year-old man from Maple Valley, told the vehicle driver, a 42-year-old woman, to call 911 to send help, believing his leg was broken.
Moments later, the cyclist told the driver to cancel the call because he believed he had warrants out for his arrest and immediately fled the scene, traveling on eastbound 248th Street.
Police shortly spotted the cyclist near a YMCA and told the suspect to stop.
The suspect complied after several commands and was taken into custody. Police said he had drugs in his pockets, several IDs and credit cards not under his name, and a fully loaded stolen Gen5 Glock 19 9mm handgun.
EMS crews transported the suspect to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Police said they will transport the suspect to King County Jail once he is medically cleared.
Police said the e-bike serial number was originally reported as not stolen. However, at the time of the police report, he confessed to having stolen that E-bike and not having the serial number.
The suspect will be charged with possession of a controlled substance and a stolen firearm, and hit-and-run of an attended vehicle.
