News: Police chase in Pasco ends in fatal collision with semi

PASCO, WA – A police chase ended Sunday when the fleeing suspect drove head-on into a semi truck on US 395, killing himself and his passenger.

KOMO News reports that Franklin County Sheriff’s deputies were pursuing 28-year-old Ricky Cruz north on US 395 when Cruz crossed into the southbound lanes as he approached Foster Wells Road, where he collided with an oncoming semi truck.

Cruz was rushed to Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane, where he died. Cruz’s passenger, 23-year-old Karlie Moore, died at the scene.

The truck’s driver was not hurt in the collision.

It in unclear at this time why deputies were pursuing Cruz.
