NEAR KENT, WA – A person was killed in a motorcycle collision that happened on I-5 near State Route 516 on Friday, Fox13Seattle reports.
The collision occurred around 2 a.m. Washington State Patrol pulled up to the scene a short time later and discovered a body on the road and a motorcycle that was seen 100 feet away, with significant lights on. Troopers declared the motorcyclist dead at the scene, and, along with Washington Department of Transportation crews, shut down the area for several hours.
Officials reopened one lane to allow for the flow of traffic, but nonetheless, traffic delays persisted, and were seen for several miles from north of South 320th Street up to SR 516.
The Valley Freeway also had its share of lane closures and delays due to roadway damage.
Authorities reopened all lanes before 8:00 a.m.
As of this writing, troopers have not specified the exact cause of the collision or released the victim’s identity.
