News: Pedestrian seriously hurt by hit-and-run driver at Tacoma protest

PIERCE COUNTY, WA — A woman was hospitalized Wednesday night after being struck by a vehicle while protesting in downtown Tacoma, according to KIRO 7 News.

Authorities said the incident occurred on East D Street in front of the LeMay car museum.

An early investigation indicates the woman was with a group protesting a camping ban when she was hit by a blue pickup truck. The driver of the truck was seen fleeing the scene immediately after.

Medics rushed the victim to a local hospital with serious injuries. As of this writing, no updates on the woman’s condition have been disclosed.

Witnesses told authorities the act appeared to have been intentional, citing no brake lights on the vehicle at the time and the lack of skid marks at the site.

An investigation was underway.
