News: Pedestrian killed by hit-and-run driver near Everett business

SNOHOMISH COUNTY, WA — A 40-year-old man died Saturday morning after being struck by a vehicle in front of an Everett business, according to KIRO 7 Seattle.

The fatal incident occurred on the northbound lanes of State Route 99 just after 8:30 a.m.

A preliminary investigation by the Washington State Patrol indicates a northbound vehicle ran off the roadway and struck a male employee who was shoveling snow near the entrance of Kirkland RV. The victim died as a result of his injuries, confirmed officials.

While attempting to flee the scene, the driver crashed into multiple nearby recreational vehicles. The suspect then got out of the vehicle and fled on foot.

An investigation and search for the hit-and-run driver was underway. WSP said they are unsure whether speed or road conditions contributed to the event.
