News: Pedestrian hit, injured by SPD patrol car in Seattle’s Mt. Baker neighborhood

SEATTLE, WA — A 35-year-old man was hospitalized late Monday afternoon after being struck by a police officer who was driving to an armed robbery in Seattle’s Mount Baker area, reports King 5.

The incident occurred as the officer was pulling out of a driveway and onto Rainier Avenue South, near South McClellan Street, shortly before 4:49 p.m.

According to the Seattle Police Department, the male pedestrian was crossing the street when he was hit. He was transported to Harborview Medical Center, where he was listed in stable condition.

The event left all lanes of Rainier Avenue South shut down as police and fire crews responded to the scene.

No further information has been provided as of this writing, but the case was being handled by the department’s Traffic Collision Investigation Squad.
