PIERCE COUNTY, WA — One person died Thursday morning after being hit by a train while on railway tracks in downtown Puyallup, according to The News Tribune.
Authorities have not disclosed exactly where the fatal incident occurred, but train crossings at 5th, 7th and 12th streets northwest were all shut down shortly after 10:17 a.m.
Puyallup Police Department said the train was stopped on the tracks as an investigation was conducted.
Authorities have not released any further information on the circumstances behind the event.
Motorists were instructed to detour around the scene during the emergency response.
