MONROE, WA – A pedestrian was killed after being struck by a train in Monroe early Friday morning.
According to KIRO, the pedestrian was struck shortly after 6 a.m. just east of the Main Street railroad crossing.
The unidentified victim was pronounced dead at the scene. It is unclear why they were walking on the tracks at the time of the crash.
The train was stopped for several hours, blocking the crossings at East Main Street, North Lewis Street, and North Kelsey Street.
