News: Pedestrian dies after hit-and-run on Central Ave N in Kent

KING COUNTY, WA — A man died late Tuesday night after being struck by a vehicle whose driver fled the scene in downtown Kent, reports KOMO News.

The fatal incident occurred in the 22800 block of Central Avenue North, near Kent Memorial Park, shortly before 10:00 p.m.

According to Kent Police, an officer was patrolling the area when he observed two people standing in the street. After pulling over, he found a male pedestrian laying in the road and suffering from critical injuries.

The officer worked to administer life-saving measures on the man, but the victim succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

Few other details have been shared, but witnesses told authorities they first heard the pedestrian crash and then saw a driver fleeing the area without stopping.

At this time, an investigation and a search for the hit-and-run driver remain ongoing. Authorities have not yet released a description of the fleeing vehicle.
