News: Pedestrian dies after being struck by an SUV in Puyallup

PUYALLUP, WA – A pedestrian was fatally hit by an SUV on 78th Avenue East on Friday evening.

The fatal crash occurred in the 19000 block of 78th Avenue East at around 9:30 p.m., according to KOMO News.

A GMC Yukon was driving northbound on 78th Avenue East during a rainstorm when it went over a hill. The driver saw what he thought was a trailer in the road and tried to go around it. However, another vehicle was traveling southbound and hit a pedestrian who was crossing the road with a shopping cart.

Both drivers stopped and tried to help the female pedestrian. Local authorities reported the woman appeared to be in her forties. They are still trying to identify the woman.

The SUV driver did not appear to be impaired and was cooperating with the investigation.
