KING COUNTY, WA — A 27-year-old woman died Monday night after a car hit a disabled semi-truck on State Route 18 near southeast Issaquah, reports KIRO 7 Seattle.
According to the Washington State Patrol, the fatal wreck occurred near the summit of Tiger Mountain shortly after 8:00 p.m.
A preliminary investigation shows a 31-year-old Enumclaw man was driving a blue 2010 Ford Escape when he collided with the semi.
His passenger, a Maple Valley resident, died from her injuries at the scene.
The driver of the Escape was transported to Overlake Medical Center with undisclosed injuries. He was suspected of intoxication and now faces charges of DUI and vehicular homicide.
The truck driver, who was outside working on their vehicle when the crash happened, had triangles on display and hazard lights on.
Officials closed the roadway for several hours during the response and investigation. Shortly after 1:00 a.m. the following morning, the scene had been cleared.
