News: Passenger dies after car rear-ends semi on I-405 in Renton

KING COUNTY, WA — A woman died Monday afternoon after a two-vehicle collision in Renton that left a man seriously injured, according to FOX 13 Seattle.

The fatal accident occurred on the northbound side of Interstate 5 at State Route 169. It was first recorded by the Washington State Department of Transportation at 3:10 p.m.

Few details have been released, but the Washington State Patrol said a man was driving a passenger car that struck the back of a semi-truck.

The woman, who was passenger in the car, was pronounced deceased at the scene. Officials said the male driver suffered serious injuries.

Following the crash, the right lane remained blocked for an extended time, causing a four-mile traffic backup on the northbound side. Southbound motorists also faced significant delays.

An investigation was in progress.
