News: Overturned truck on I-5 at I-405 slows NB traffic

TUKWILLA, WA – An overturned box truck brought rush hour traffic on northbound I-5 south of I-405 to a standstill this morning, according to the Washington State Department of Transportation.

The incident happened sometime before 6 a.m., and closed three left-hand lanes entirely. Footage from a nearby traffic camera shows vehicles proceeding at a stop-and-go pace as emergency responders attempt to clear the area. Every lane except the HOV lane was reopened by 7:36 a.m., but traffic had become so backed up that it continued to move at a crawl.

We are not sure whether anyone was injured in the initial crash. We will update this blog if we learn more.
