News: Overturned semi blocks lanes on I-5 at Berkeley St.

LAKEWOOD, WA – The Washington State Patrol responded to an overturned semi-truck blocking several lanes on I-5 early Wednesday morning.

The accident took place shortly after 1 a.m. in the northbound lanes of the interstate near the exit to Berkeley Street Southwest.

Troopers say the unidentified driver fell asleep behind the wheel and struck a concrete barrier, causing the rig to overturn in the lanes of travel.

Fortunately, no one was injured as a result of the crash. However, the freeway was shut down for about 4 hours, reopening shortly after 5 a.m.
