News: One seriously injured in hit-and-run crash on I-5 near south Tacoma

PIERCE COUNTY, WA — One person was hospitalized Wednesday night after a hit-and-run collision on Interstate 5 near south Tacoma, according to Trooper Robert Reyer with Washington State Patrol.

The incident occurred on the I-5 southbound offramp to the westbound lanes of South 38th Street. It was first reported by WSP at 9:42 p.m.

The causing vehicle, a light-colored pickup, left the scene after hitting two vehicles.

Few details have been released at this time, but authorities said the driver of a light-colored pickup truck hit two other vehicles before fleeing the scene.

One of the victim drivers suffered serious injuries and was transported to a local hospital. No further information on their condition has been disclosed.

The ramp was shut down as an investigation was conducted.
