News: One life claimed in fiery collision at MountLake Terrace station

MOUNTLAKE TERRACE, WA – One life was claimed in a fiery collision that occurred at the Mountlake Terrace transit station on Tuesday, KomoNews reports. 

The incident unfolded around 3:30 a.m. on Interstate 5 North. The driver of a Mercedes SUV took an exit, leading toward the station and crashed into a wall. 

The impact of that crash caused the car to catch on fire, leading to the driver’s death. 

Washington State Patrol and officials closed Interstate 5 North along 236th Street, so fire crews could extinguish the flames and conduct the on-scene investigation. 

WSP is working to determine whether impairment was a factor behind the crash.
