News: One injured in I-5 big rig wreck near Duwamish River

KING COUNTY, WA — One person was hurt Wednesday morning after a tractor trailer collision on Interstate 5 near the Duwamish River in Tukwila, according to KOMO News.

The crash happened on the northbound lanes of I-5 near State Route 599 at around 9:00 a.m.

Little information has been made available at this time, but Washington State Patrol said a tractor trailer appeared to have collided with a freeway barrier.

A photo taken at the scene shows severe damage to the front-end of the semi.

One person sustained minor injuries as a result of the accident, though it is unclear whether or not they were taken to a hospital.

The event left only the right lane open, creating long delays in the area.

Motorists were asked to detour through SR-599 as crews worked to clear debris from the scene.

An investigation was underway.
