RICHLAND, WA – Officials have provided additional details concerning the fatal auto vs. motorcycle collision that occurred on WA 240 near Village Pkwy on March 1, according to FOX 13.
Sarah Clasen, a Washington State Patrol trooper, was off-duty on her way home from Domino’s Pizza when she turned onto Village Pkwy from WA 240. Classen told authorities she saw a vehicle light coming her way but thought she had enough time to turn.
Jose Sanchez, 20, slammed into the passenger side of Classen’s SUV. Sanchez died in the collision.
Police found Classen made disorganized statements, slurred her speech, had glossy eyes, and smelled of intoxicants.
Authorities arrested Classen for suspicion of vehicular homicide while driving under the influence. She was released on her own recognizance.
Police took a blood sample. Its analysis is pending.
