News: Multiple crews respond to crash on I-5 into Downtown Seattle

SEATTLE, WA — A collision Thursday afternoon closed two left lanes on Interstate 5 just north of Downtown Seattle, according to the Washington State Department of Transportation.

The accident occurred on the southbound lanes at Olive Way, in the city’s Cascade neighborhood. It was first reported by the WSDOT at 1:15 p.m.

No details have been shared regarding the parties involved, but up to two left lanes were blocked during the emergency response. Officials said Fire Assistance, the Washington State Patrol, and WSDOT’s Incident Response Team (IRT) all arrived at the scene.

By 1:55 p.m., 40 minutes after the first report, the scene had cleared and all lanes were reopened to traffic.

It was not immediately clear whether anyone was seriously hurt.
