News: Multiple crashes shut down I-90 Snoqualmie Pass in North Bend

KING COUNTY, WA — Icy conditions led to multiple spinouts and crashes Tuesday afternoon on Interstate 90 over Snoqualmie Pass near North Bend, according to KOMO News.

The Washington State Department of Transportation announced a closure of the eastbound interstate at milepost 34, southeast of the city, with no estimated reopening time.

At this time, no details regarding the accidents have been disclosed, and it was not immediately clear whether anyone was seriously hurt.

All westbound motorists traveling from milepost 71 on were required to have chains and all-wheel drive.

By 10:42 p.m., WSDOT indicated all eastbound lanes were reopened to traffic. Officials advised only vehicles with traction tires should use the road in either direction. Semi-trucks and other oversize vehicles remained prohibited due to difficulty getting the vehicles upright in the event of a crash.

Delays were expected in the area due to continued snowy weather.
