News: Multiple agencies respond to crash on SR-167 NB in south Renton

KING COUNTY, WA — A collision Friday afternoon caused a significant traffic backup on State Route 167 in south Renton, according to the Washington State Department of Transportation.

The accident impacted the northbound lanes just north of South 180th Street, near Valley Medical Center. It was first reported by WSDOT at 2:20 p.m.

Authorities have not disclosed a possible cause of the crash, but the toll lanes and right general-purpose lane were closed as a result.

Traffic footage captured at the scene indicates at least three vehicles, including two pickup trucks, were involved. A red pickup truck with visible fender damage can be seen stopped in the toll lane facing nearly the opposite direction. Over two right lanes, a white SUV appears to have crashed into the side of a blue pickup truck.

By 2:43 p.m., the HOV lane was reopened and made available for all traffic, while two right lanes were reported closed. Multiple agencies, including WSDOT’s Incident Response Team (IRT), the Washington State Patrol, and local firefighters were observed responding to the scene.

Motorists were asked to find alternate routes as crews worked to clear the scene.
