CLALLAM BAY, WA – A van collided with a motorcyclist on Sekiu River Main Line Logging Road Saturday evening, then fled the scene.
According to Peninsula Daily News, local authorities responded to the collision around 7:08 p.m. The accident happened around five miles up Sekiu River Main Line Logging Road.
Authorities said the motorcycle driver was originally taken to Forks Community Hospital for treatment of critical injuries, but was then transferred to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. Hospital staff said the driver was released today.
A license plate from the van was left at the scene, which helped authorities identify the vehicle’s owner as Francisco Comonfort-Soavedra, age 46. They suspect he was driving the vehicle at the time of the crash.
As of Tuesday evening, the suspect has not been located. Anyone who has information on Comonfort-Soavedra is encourage to contact the Sheriff’s Office Dispatch.
It appeared to local law enforcement that the collision was an accident. However, in the state of Washington, leaving the scene of a vehicular accident is a crime.
