HOODSPORT, WA. – A motorcyclist was severely injured after his motorcycle collided with a car on U.S. Highway 101 near Holiday Beach.
The crash occurred at around 7:15 p.m. on Sunday evening. A Washington State Patrol spokesperson says a 26-year-old Shelton man in a 2003 Volkswagon Passat attempted an illegal U-turn northbound 101 at Virginia Avenue. According to sources, the vehicle turned in front of a 1994 Honda VT1100 motorcycle, ridden by a 21-year-old man, also from Shelton. The motorcyclist was unable to avoid hitting the Volkswagon and was severely injured in the accident. He was airlifted to Tacoma General Hospital and was later transported to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.
Authorities say that drugs or alcohol likely played a role in the crash, and the driver of the Volkswagon has been arrested. He currently faces vehicular assault charges. There is no word on the condition of the motorcyclist at this time.
