News: Motorcyclist dies after crash with underage driver near downtown Tacoma

PIERCE COUNTY, WA — A man died Sunday night after his motorcycle collided with a vehicle driven by a 13-year-old girl near downtown Tacoma, according to KIRO 7 News.

Tacoma Police Department said the fatal crash happened on Portland Avenue at East 29th Street at around 7:41 p.m.

A preliminary investigation indicates the man was riding southbound on Portland Avenue when a northbound vehicle turned in his path. Moments later, the motorcyclist struck the side of the vehicle.

Authorities indicated the rider died from his injuries at the scene.

The teen driver and her passenger, a 42-year-old woman, were not reported hurt.

An investigation remains ongoing, and as of this writing, no arrests have been made. Police said they do not suspect the girl was under the influence of drugs or alcohol at the time.
