News: Motorcyclist dies after crash with truck at central Tacoma intersection

PIERCE COUNTY, WA — A motorcyclist died early Wednesday after running a red light and colliding with a truck in central Tacoma’s Hilltop neighborhood, reports KOMO News.

Tacoma Police responded to the scene at the corner of South 19th Street and South Sprague Avenue.

According to officials, a man was riding a motorcycle when he ran the red light at the intersection. He was fatally injured as he struck a truck heading westbound on South19th Street.

It was not immediately clear whether the victim died at the scene.

The driver of the truck suffered minor injuries and was taken to a local hospital.

A section of the road was shut down for hours during the response and investigation. Shortly before 5:00 a.m., the scene had been cleared and all lanes were reopened.
