PIERCE COUNTY, WA — One person died Monday night after their motorcycle collided with another vehicle near south Puyallup, according to the Washington State Patrol.
The fatal accident happened at the intersection of State Route 161 and 144th Street East, just east of Fountain Island Park, in the South Hill area. It was first reported by Trooper Robert Reyer shortly before 9:00 p.m.
Officials have not shared a possible cause of the crash, but the motorcycle rider was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The WSP had the intersection shut down during the emergency response and initial investigation. Motorists were instructed to avoid the area and find alternate routes.

By 10:23 p.m., nearly an hour and a half later, the intersection was reopened to the public.
