News: Motorcycle rider dies after crash with car in Randle

RANDLE, WA — A 67-year-old man was fatally injured Friday afternoon when his motorcycle crashed into another vehicle along Highway 12 in Randle, according to The Chronicle.

The Seattle resident was traveling eastbound on Highway 12 in a 2003 Harley-Davidson motorcycle when the accident occurred at Young Road at around 3:45 p.m.

A Nissan Pathfinder traveling ahead of the man slowed down to anticipate a left turn when the motorcycle crashed into the back of the vehicle. Both the rider and the motorcycle came to a rest in the lane.

The man was transported to Seattle’s Harborview Medical Center where he later died. It was reported he was not wearing a helmet approved by the U.S. Department of Transportation during the crash.

The driver of the Nissan Pathfinder, a 27-year-old resident of Lakewood, was uninjured.

The Washington State Patrol reported “improper passing” as the cause of the crash.
