News: Motorcycle rider critically injured in crash with DUI driver in Lynnwood

LYNNWOOD, WA — A 21-year-old man suffered serious injuries Tuesday night after his motorcycle was struck by a suspected DUI driver in Lynnwood, according to My Edmonds News.

The crash took place on Highway 99 near 52nd Avenue at approximately 10:00 p.m.

The motorcyclist, an Edmonds resident, was traveling northbound on Highway 99 when a southbound Dodge Caravan struck him while trying to turn left onto 52nd Avenue.

A passerby offered aid to the injured rider before emergency responders arrived and transported him to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle with critical injuries. The young victim’s condition was last reported critical but now stable.

Police said the causing driver, a 51-year-old Shoreline man, was taken into custody for suspected impairment. He will be charged with vehicular assault for his role in the crash.

No other information has been reported.
