News: Medical episode leads to crash that causes gas leak in Puyallup 

PUYALLUP, WA – A driver was said to have suffered a medical episode, which is what caused them to crash into a gas meter, resulting in a gas leak on Saturday. 

The single-vehicle collision occurred on the 4000th block of 22nd Street Southeast, King5 reports. The driver, an elderly man, crashed his vehicle into a home garage.

The man was transported to a hospital as a precaution, and none of the home occupants were injured. The home itself was not seriously damaged, but still underwent a structural integrity evaluation. 

Residents in the area were temporarily issued a shelter-in-place order until Puget Sound Energy crews were able to stop the gas leak. 

Puyallup Police and Puyallup fire crews also responded to the scene.
