News: Marysville semi accident blocks southbound I-5

MARYSVILLE, WA – A semi blocked all lanes and spilled dozens of gallons of fuel on southbound I-5 on Wednesday night.

According to KOMO News, the crash occurred at 88th Street Northeast when the semi drifted into the right shoulder hitting a guardrail and power pole. Washington State Department of Transportation tweeted the impact caused the semi to go back across all lanes and hit the left guardrail around 5:05 p.m.

Local authorities are investigating the cause of the crash still, but did report it appears the semi driver fell asleep at the wheel. WSDOT tweeted later that there were no injuries involved in the crash.

It was reported that the semi truck’s tanks ruptured in the crash and spilled 50 to 80 gallons of fuel. All lanes were reported open on southbound I-5 around 8:05 p.m.
