ORTING, WA – A 51-year-old man and a 38-year-old woman were hospitalized following a head-on wreck that occurred on Highway 162 along 144th Street East on Friday.
The collision took place around 7:45 a.m. and involved a black 2011 Dodge Nitro and a white 1995 Subaru Legacy, according to KOMO News. Preliminary details show that the Dodge driver, a 38-year-old woman, was going east and the Subaru driver, a 51-year-old man, was going west on the highway. Both of their vehicles collided head-on.
The force of the collision left the 51-year-old man from Sumner with serious, life-threatening injuries, and the Dodge driver, a 38-year-old woman local to Orting, with injuries that are serious, but not as severe as the man’s.
EMS crews transported the woman by ground to Good Samaritan Hospital, and medical helicopter personnel took the man to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. As of this writing, officials have not specified whether impairment was a contributing factor behind the crash.
