News: Man pleads not guilty to fatal Burien crash

BURIEN, WA – The man who allegedly caused a deadly collision on Washington 509 on February 22 pleaded not guilty on Wednesday, according to KING 5.

Edgar Gonzalez Moreno, 27, was reportedly driving a 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee erratically while exiting Washington 509 when a deputy attempted to pull them over. Moreno sped off at up to 100 miles per hour and re-entered Washington 509.

Moreno was heading north on Washington 509 when he collided with the rear of a 2011 Toyota 4Runner, causing the 4Runner to crash into a tree.

Three people were in the 4Runner. One of them, Della Chen, 53, died from her injuries. Her husband and 18-year-old daughter lived.

Following the collision, Moreno allegedly fled the scene. A deputy apprehended him. The deputy determined he was impaired.

Authorities charged Moreno with vehicular homicide, vehicular assault, felony hit and run and eluding a police vehicle. He pleaded not guilty to these charges on Wednesday. He is being held on a $750,000 bond.
