PIERCE COUNTY, WA — A 28-year-old man died Tuesday night after being struck by a train while walking on tracks in northwest Puyallup, according to KOMO News.
Puyallup Police Department said the fatal incident occurred in the 2200 block of West Steward Avenue shortly before 8:40 p.m.
Little information has been provided, but witnesses told authorities the train had sounded its horn to signal the man to move, but he continued walking toward the train.
An investigation indicated emergency brakes were deployed, but the train was not able to stop before striking the pedestrian.
An investigation remains underway.
